Julie Donovan: A New Director of Counseling
Tantasqua Regional Senior High School has a new Director of School Counseling this year. Ms. Julie Donovan comes to Tantasqua after working in the Springfield Public Schools district for fifteen years, where she supervised two student support programs and was also the 504 district coordinator. Additionally, while she used to supervise adults, Donovan is incredibly excited to be working with Tantasqua students now. She likes working with teenagers and kids, but especially with teenagers and looks forward to helping each student reach their full potential
Since joining the staff here, Ms. Donovan has taken on overseeing school counseling for both the academic and technical divisions, schedules for new students, scheduling PSATs, SATs, individualized student support, 504s, and has contributed by helping with homecoming, prom, graduation, and course planning.
When she’s not at work, she considers herself a hockey mom and spends some of her free time decorating her house. Donovan also enjoys gardening and cuddling with her dog, Bauer.
Since joining the community here, Donovan remarks on much she likes how the students at Tantasqua are like a family, despite the large size of the student body.
Looking forward, Ms. Donovan is excited to challenge herself with the counseling work surrounding her and cannot wait to see what the future holds for her time here. Tantasqua is incredibly lucky to have her.
Lauren Gunagan is currently a junior at Tantasqua Regional Senior High School. This is her second year writing for the school newspaper.
